A24 back open after incident involving overturned lorry in Findon – recap

The A24[1] in Findon was closed for a number of hours on Thursday morning (July 27) after a lorry overturned by the Findon Roundabout. The incident saw a number of emergency services rush to the scene, including Sussex Police, SECAmb paramedics and West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

The road was blocked on the southbound carriageway and affected traffic around the roundabout backing up to Storrington and Washington. Motorists were advised to “please stay away” from the area by firefighters.

Traffic analytics company Inrix said at the time: “A24 Findon By-Pass blocked, slow traffic due to overturned lorry at A280 Long Furlong (Findon Roundabout). On the roundabout.”

A heavy rescue tender was at the scene. Sussex Police have since confirmed that the road had reopened and the lorry driver thankfully only suffered minor injuries.
